<< To all:
My husband is having a real difficult time with pain, stiffness, etc.
If there are any of you from Memphis who might be getting help with pain
please let us know which Dr. really cares. It seems all they are concerned
with is addiction. His neuro Dr. has got his spasms pretty well under
control with baclfen, but doesnt seem to want to help with getting his pain
under control. He underwent a complete hip replacement in Sept (caused from
the IV steroids he was given for the tm) and it has been a rough road. His
quality of life is just not improving, and I think would appreciate any help
you all can give. Thanks
Brenda and Robert >>
Brenda and Robert, I ABSOLUTELY insist that my physician respond to my
requests for pain medication. It helps that I have a fairly young neurologist
who is cautious about it but liberal.
I take Neurontin (300 MG per day) and Tylenol 3 (about 3-4 tablets a day). I
have also started recently with Klanopin?? its in the valium family and helps
with stiffness and pain in the shoulders that is the result of tension and
anxiety from my condition.
Even if he just gets prescriptions to get him through the next 3 mos. or so
and then wean off it would seem that the benefits would certainly outweigh the
risk of addiction, which you can watch for, Brenda.
I don't know anyone in Memphis, but I would recommend that you be very
assertive about it and see where it gets you. :------) Wishing you the best
of luck, and praying for you, Kevin O'C
