You shouldn't feel embarrassed about not knowing anything about TM. It's
a mystery to me and I was struck years ago. Your mother I take it was
just recently diagnosed with tm? So IMO you should give it some time.
It's usual course is a single attack and a degree of healing after.
There's not much that I know of that can be done after the first couple
weeks all though there is the occasional exception.
You did say it came on sudden, how sudden is the usual tell as to the
degree of recovery. Your Doctor should be able to give you some idea of
hoped for recovery based on the rapidity of the onset. But it's my
understanding a rapid onset [a few hours or less] is quoted as poor.
{I'm sorry to say}. But mine was about thirty minutes and although I'm
using a wheelchair I have to say my recovery is surprisingly good.
