Again, when you first hear the diagnosis . . . you only have what the
neurologist is telling you to go on and not sure that many have that much
first hand experience with this illness but made it sound like if it
wasn't tumors on the spine or a virus in the spinal cord . . . they were
REALLY stumped and couldn't offer much in the way of information or hope.
Dad's been VERY depressed - - - think too being a Chiropractor all his
life and working with the spine, to have this feels doubly hard to
accept. But it has to be extremely difficult for ANYONE to face.
It's helped me to read all you've had to say on that subject too.
If I'm understanding correctly - - it seems that many of you feel stress
was a contributing factor . . . . some have found help with herbs and
diet . . . . I'm wondering if any of you HAVE tried Chiropractic and
if there's been any successes with that? My cousin who is a
chiropractor (but also does AK and N E T) lives in a neighboring city and
he came and adjusted my Dad and put him on some vitamins after he was
transferred to the rehabilitation center and we have been doing some
massage thereapies ourselves to try and get his colon working again -
wondering if then we could maybe eliminate some of the toxins from the
non-functioning illeoseco valve (between large & small intestine) and it
did seem that he was getting some sensation back in the pelvic region and
yesterday, the therapist by mistake smacked him in the knee and he did
have some reflexes but only on the one side. It was three weeks ago
tonight that Dad got up to go to the bathroom, sat down and felt this
AWFUL pain and has been paralyzed every since.
Until this happened, Dad never so much as ever took an asprin - - NEVER
of course had any vaccines of any kind so that could not have contributed
to his TM.
Thanks for providing this wonderful forum to share . . . .
