Depression is probably the most difficult and stressful event that affects us
in our daily lives. Crying, I find(as a man, whwo has always been told that
it is not a manly thing to do) is a release for me when I start to feel down.
I do it privately, and allow myself only a brief period of time to feel
sorry for myself, and do wishful thinking--"If wishes were fishes, I'd have a
whole basket full", as my mom used to say. I then start thinking about how
all of this has effected the ones I love, and the stress I cause them in
having to deal with me and my changed condition and the mental changes that
goes with it, and I start to feel better --if not for myself, for them. I
also try to plan fun times with my family and those around me that we can all
enjoy what we now have, because this is what our(us with T/M) future is going
to be like. I guess I am a lucky guy to have a family and friends that stuck
by me in the beginning and are still here for me. Positive thoughts and
laughter are good healers too.
