I think it was my message that you are making inquiry about. My physical
therapy at the rehabilitation hospitan I was in right after my stay in the
acute care hospital gave me daily Range Of Motion exercises(ROM). This is a
routine that stretches each of your affected joints, muscles and tendons,
stretching them to their limits to hepl prevent a shrinkage of the tendons
due to lack of use. Also, I was furnished a neoro-muscular stimulator that I
use daily to stimulate each of the affected muscles and tendons. It is
battery powered, and sometimes referred to as a TENS unit which has pads that
you locate on strategic muscle groups on your torso, legs, buttocks, ankles,
etc: that have been affected. With this, I have been able to maintain my
muscles and keep them from becoming atrophied(sp). It litterally will make
your legs straighten out, your ankles curl, your abdominal muscles draw up to
look like a "six pac". The problem with htis is the sensation from the
electrical stimulation that you have to get used to. There is an even
stronger device that I use to walk with between parallell bars with the aid
of leg braces to keep me from breaking my bones, but it feel like you have
just stuck your finger into a light socket--it generates up to 600 mega hertz
power.
