Kevin and all:

I am lucky that I work for the State of Arizona and I have decent insurance
and good disability (both short and long term). I had my attack of TM over
Labor Day Weekend and was diagnosed in mid-September. About the same time my
"dream job" became vacant-- the position of Director of Emergency Aid. I have
always wanted that job, but it is will the Catholic Diocese and not the state.
I believe I would have gotten the job (I knew that I was there top prospect)
but I withdrew my application. I made that decision because I knew the
insurance wouldn't be in effect until three months after employment and I
wouldn't even be eligible for disability insurance for two years. Who knows
if they would have accepted me on the disability insurance at the end of two
years. I was so depressed and generally bummed out by this. But, I knew that
I just could not take chances with my insurance or disability at this point in
my life. So, I had a pep talk with myself and realized that I am very lucky
to have good insurance and disability (but I really wanted that job! LOL)
