Hello,
I am new to the internet, so I am not sure how to post to this group. I am
42 years old, mother of four, and have been sick for almost ten years.
Because I had ruptured silicone breast implants, getting a diagnosis has
been extremely diffucult.
Atypical Lupus, and atypical neurological disease had been used up to the
middle of Sept.96, when I suddenly had severe back pain, and numbness going
up my back, and my right foot became numb and I could not move it. MRI of
both my back and brain, I think are normal. I have been taking 60 of
prednisone daily since, with some relief. Back pain stopped as suddenly as
it came but numbness in my back and foot remain. If I stand up for more than
five minutes the numbness in my back seems to get worse, same with sitting ,
so I have been laying a whole lot. Because I live 400 miles from my
doctors(round trip) it was through my local nurse practioner I was told
Transverse Myelitis, she talked to my doctors. No explanation, and I am not
even sure that is a good diagnosis. I go back to the doctors on Monday, and
have been told to plan on staying there awhile. Also, am told I will have a
spinal tap.
I guess at this point any and all the information anyone has would be
appreciated.
Seems little information is available. Are there any treatments, I keep
moving my foot, and wonder about some P.T.? Walking was very diffucult, and
now seems somewhat better. All of this sounds very scarey. But each day is
so different.
Take Care and THANKS!!!
Beth
