This is a description someone gave me (from a medical book) about Transverse
Myelitis.
Very interesting description, I think.

Some cases follow non specific viral illness, others are associated
with vasculitis or IV use of heroin, or speed. Sometimes no cause is found.
Suuden back
pain is
followed by sensory symptoms and motor weakness ascending from the
feet.....treatment
is non
specific and symptomatic....most patients are left with considerable
disability.
Corticosterioids are
of no proven benefit.
