Hi to everyone,
This is my first posting but have been reading with interest. I developed
TM June 1994 with rapid onset of symptoms over afew hours. I was unable to
walk and have no bowel or bladder control. Over number of months regained
limited use of legs, now walking very short distances with a crutch. I
have a high level of nerve pain, especially right foot. I`m very interested
in more information on reports stating 70% of TM patients go on to develop
MS as in last 7 weeks I have developed MS with a number of new areas
effected including eyes, hands, arms & short term memory. Have any others
gone on to get MS?
Amitriptyline for pain control can be very effective but watch for side
effects of confusion and weight gain which can add to mobility problems. I
was on 185mg daily but came off when side effects outweighed pain control
benefits.
I have painful muscle spasms and cramps and I`m finding Baclofen helps
this, doesn`t help the pain that much.
Fatigue is also a real problem, resting for short periods helps if I`m at
home.
Could you tell me how to get onto the "Medline", it sounds really
interesting. I live in New Zealand and with our small population base (3
million people) getting up to date information takes more effort.
I look forward to being part of this group.
