Hi all---

I am interested, and I hope others are too, in having some discussion
about changes in our conditions from original diagnosis until now.....
I was diagnosed with TM after becoming paralyzed from the chest down
within forty-eight hours. I had complete flaccid paraplegia, with loss of
all bladder and bowel function. Thought it was Guillan Barre at first.
About 6 wks later I began to move my right big toe. Within about five
months I could stand, but not walk. In about a month I could use a walker,
which I needed for about two months, then I could walk by
myself. Today, 15 months after onset, I can walk and drive, but still need
to catherize and also have to jump start the bowells....I have feeling in my
legs but less as I get closer to my feet. Still very weak in legs,
especially on left side that feels like a wooded leg. I still feel im
improving, but not with the great wheelchair
to walking strides of nearly a year ago. Have trouble with steps, but can
do them,
cant run or play golf. Also still get very worn out.....
During this recovery period I took high dosages of anti-oxidants, on
the advice of a friend...whether that promoted my recovery or not is
impossible to say, but i would reccomend them to anyone to try...cant hurt
Hope to hear from others on recovery/non-recovery
