Contacting the TMA by Email
When writing email messages to the officers of the TMA or to support group leaders, please use TMA, Transverse Myelitis, TM, ADEM, NMO or ON in the subject header of the message. Please be sure to include a title in the subject header. The volume of emails that we receive and the way spam filters work makes it increasingly difficult to sort through emails to find legitimate messages.
I personally receive more than 600 email messages a week. The majority of these emails are spam. As I am only able to read my email messages on the weekends, my first job on Friday evenings entails sorting through this enormous number of messages to determine which are infected with some kind of evil intent, which are benign junk, and which are important communications from people making connection with the TMA. I am always concerned and vigilant about deleting a legitimate message.
Also, if you would like to send an attachment, it is always a prudent approach to send an email notifying the person that you are going to follow up your message with a second email that includes the attachment; and explain the nature of the attachment. I will not open an email with an attachment unless I know the person who is sending it.
Cyberspace used to be a small and friendly place. It is no longer. I am heavily invested in hardware and software to protect what evil lurks behind every message that hits our server. From firewalls to spamware to adware to spyware to virus and worm scanning software – all of these approaches are required to protect your important information.
So, if you want to be sure that we see it, save it and open it, please include a subject header in your message and use words that will identify you as a person interested in contacting the TMA. We appreciate your help! |
