Article 4

Richard Charles Gilmur

It is with the deepest sadness for me to communicate to the TMA community that Dick Gilmur passed away on April 5, 2006 at the age of 52.  Dick had courageously fought Mantle Cell Lymphoma since his diagnosis in November 2004.  Dick will be missed by his wonderful wife, Deanne, his children, Katie, Charlie and Britany, his family and friends and everyone who knew him.

Dick and Deanne founded the TMA in 1994; their daughter, Katie, got TM when she was 18 months old.  Dick was instrumental in formally establishing the Association, including our incorporation, our 501 (c)(3) status, and the development of our by-laws.  Dick also played a primary role in organizing our first Symposium in 1999 in Seattle.  Dick’s passion for advocacy for the TM community was a direct reflection of his love for his family.

To recognize Dick’s many important contributions to the TMA and to honor his memory, we are naming our endowment fund, The Richard Charles Gilmur Endowment Fund.  This endowment fund was Dick’s project; he initiated the fund and guided its development.  This fund was established for the purpose of supporting TM research.  All of the contributions that have come and will come to the TMA in Dick’s memory will be placed into this fund for TM research.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Deanne, Britany, Katie, Charlie and his family.  His memory should serve as a blessing for his family, and for all who knew Dick.
