Dear All
Thank you all for coming to the meeting, it was lovely to see you all there.
We started the meeting by introducing Christian Routley who came from Wolverhampton.
Christian was diagnosed in April 2007 and has made a really good recovery. He spent 4 months in hospital and got some good treatment with steroids and a physio from West Park Hospital. He had a fantastic consultant in Dr Young. Luckily, they found out quite quickly what was wrong and diagnosed TM. As we all know, the faster you get treatment and physio, the better the outcome seems to be.
Christian is back to work full time since Christmas and is coping ok.
Ruth had been fighting with the occupational health and is not getting anywhere with them. Seems that in the area where Ruth lives they are in no hurry to help.
She has also changed her consultant as she was not happy with the care she was getting. She is looking forward to a bit more information and help from the new consultant. Ruth has had a third MRI as they think she has had another attack of TM. So she is still hanging on waiting for more answers.
UPDATE:
After all the forwards and back Ruth emailed me with some good news. She is going to get her extension done The new specialist Ruth had a letter with her findings (having finally got the notes and MRI scans from B'ham). Unfortunately she has confirmed that I have got recurrent TM, but at least I know. The first attack I had was the middle of my back, and the second one at C3. Another one could occur at any time.
Mike has not been back to Dudley to have another go at the treatment. But he is still on the list and is hoping to see the consultant in Dudley again.
Sandy is still seeing her Consultant at the QE every 6 months.
Will try to see if we can get the pain nurse to come to speak to us in the July meeting and another request was to get someone from occupational health to come in as well.
Unfortunately, that was all we had time for this meeting.
Next meeting will be the AGM on the 24th April at the Horse Shoe Inn in Ketley (off Holyhead Road) at 12 Noon to 2 pm. Please let us know before the 10th of April if you are able to attend.
The next meeting after that will be on Thursday 17th July from 2 to 4 pm at Ketley Parish Community Centre in Telford.
