Monthly Support Group Meeting

We held our second monthly support group meeting. We met at Shoney's in Pearl, who were generous enough to give us their back dining room. It gave us privacy to discuss any topic without others being so near. There were a total of seven people in attendance. They were Roxane Crawford, Dorothy Danielson, Mike Whitefield, his wife, Wilma, their son Lance, their friend Kathy Satcher and myself, Joyce Boothe. We waited a little later than had planned to start the meeting, as one person had not shown up.

The meeting began at 2:00 p.m. with Mike's wife Wilma taking our minutes. I brought everyone up to date on Hinds Community College recycling the ink cartridges. Wilma plans to ask MSU in Meridian and other schools. Roxane is checking at her job on them recycling them, also. We touched on a few ideas of considering raising money and coming up with a definite place to have the meeting. We are still working on ways of letting others in our state know that we are beginning this group, by contacting doctors offices, rehabs and hospitals to let them know we exist.

There were a lot of good ideas brought up by the group, which we are all working on. Our first and most important issue is to find one place convenient for anyone coming from out of town to have easy access off and back on to the Interstate, without having to look too hard for where we are meeting. Once we have a definite place established, it will be easier for others to find. We are trying to solve one problem at a time, to hopefully build a support group that everyone can take something away from to help them and get them interested in helping in different projects to help the TMA.
