Summary of first meeting - March 29, 2003

The first meeting of the MD/DC support group was held on March 29, 2003 at Snyder's Willow Grove restaurant in Linthicum, MD. Twelve people attended. The members ages range from 20-65 years old. The amount of years that people had been affected by TM ranged from 3-32 years. The majority of members were female, we had only one male member at this meeting (come on guys we would like to see you too).

Everyone had a good time getting to know one another. We discussed everyones experience with TM, how long they have had it, what type of treatment was given, what degree of recovery had been achieved and anything else that had popped into our heads. I think we all learned a little something about how this disease effects everyone in different ways as well as the similarities.

The group decided they would like education on topics such as: What can one do to get better? What happens with age? What is happening with stem cell research? Sexual activity.

We decided to meet three times per year and our next meeting is in July.
